How did I become a Designer? 🤔

My career as a digital designer actually emerged from my time as a professional dancer. I wanted to train as much as possible and give back to my local community. I would look for ways to help others on their journey through teaching and volunteering. I stumbled on a YouTube video by Antonie Troupe that detailed something called the “canvas strategy”. It detailed giving without any expectation of a reward, operating in a state of wholeness prioritizing kindness, and helping others by identifying and aiding their unique needs. This allowed me to give back while also discovering my passion for design. I discovered I could help by creating banners, flyers, posters, and a website. I worked at the front desk inspiring others through my story and facilitating and coordinating events. This would eventually introduce me to the wonderful world of UX design.

Over the next 4 years, I worked with a design agency and multiple start-ups to refine my skills as a self-taught designer. I created design systems and established brand language with responsive design practices. Design is the medium I use to create an impact. It’s the special skill I use to better the lives of the people around me by streamlining their digital experiences.
